Odaiba scenery will be changing

Written by Nippon Sekai

Fuji News which is headquartered on Odaiba in Tokyo reports on how the scenery there will be changing beginning in 2010.

A Fuji reporter went around on a rental bike from the Tokyo Teleport Station and looked at the current scenery of the area.  He then talked to some shoppers who were surprised and had no idea that some of these landmarks would be disappearing.

As mentioned in a previous article, the Pallete Town lease is expiring in 2010.  It is expected that the giant ferris wheel will be dismantled in May of 2010 and Pallete Town itself will be demolished and redeveloped in 2012.  The lease for the land under the Oedo Onsen Monogatari, another popular attraction for both residents and tourists, is also set to expire in 2013.  The future of that attraction however is not yet known.

Various high rise commercial/resident projects are planned for several vacant lots including the Palette Town plot.  A much smaller ferris wheel is also planned for the site.
