Many people began their day preparing for the New Year by going through their own personal rituals on New Years Eve.

The long established and famous Yabusoba in Kanda prepared over 10,000 servings of soba. Over 100 customers were lined before opening resulting in the shop being completely packed upon opening.

Many young women in the mean time had their nails and hair made up and were dressed up in kimonos at a beauty parlor in Ginza. The shop had over 200 reservations on New Years Eve.
