Kimono-clad Year of the Ox dolls

Iwatsuki Ward in Saitama Prefecture is known for its doll making.  Since 2009 is the Year of the Ox (Zodiac), small sized wooden Ox dolls are being made for the upcoming New Year.

The dolls (for each years Zodiac sign) are handcrafted, handpainted, and dressed in kimonos.  They measure around 15cm in height and have been popular present items for the past few years.
