Japanese "papercraft" models made from cardboard are popular with foreign tourists for their careful and precise construction. Another reason behind the popularity of contemporary Japanese papercraft modeling is their imaginative renderings that reflect the aesthetic of Japanese animation. Keisuke Saka, who describes himself as a "paper engineer", is well known even overseas for producing models featuring delicate movements utilizing both computer design and manual trial and error.
