Hakodate onsen crowd on New Years Eve

Written by Nippon Sekai

Several thousand visitors hit an onsen in Hakodate on New Years Eve to wash away their fatigue from the old year.

The city owned Yachigashira Onsen located at the foot of Mount Hakodate in Hokkaido is often visited from New Years Eve as a way to strive for good luck and health in the upcoming new year. The onsen itself has medicinal properties with its high iron content.

This year, 3000 visitors are expected (at least 3 times higher than normal).
